Kashan is an oasis town in the province of Isfahan in the central Iran with the population of about 300,000 people. The city was founded by a wife of Harunal-Rashid.
The town has various Timurid and Seljuk minarets and mosques of 1463. Just west of the town there are the beautiful royal gardens of Bagh-e Fin.
Kashanis are famous for their industry: the Ardebil carpet in the Victoria and Albert Museum, dating from 1542, is signed Maqsud of Kashan. Besides, the skillful masters of Kashan produce fine silks and velvets, pottery and tiles.
